Here is Land Rover’s riposte to the anti-SUV brigade: the long-awaited baby Landy – a hybrid 4x4 so small it shares a footprint with a Ford Focus. The LRX will be shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2008 and presages a new, compact Land Rover due on sale in the next decade. Think shrunken Freelander coupe and you’ve got the LRX in a nutshell.
The new Mercedes AMG GT gets teased on video. Mercedes effective replacement for the SLS – the Mercedes AMG GT – is due to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show later this year, but Mercedes has already started the slow reveal of the AMG GT with photos of the interior last month. Pitched a bit further down the supercar ladder than the SLS, the AMG Gt is aiming to take on cars like the Porsche 911 and deliver a car that Mercedes hope will be the benchmark in its class.

Mitsubishi is planning a new concept car bonanza at the Tokyo motor show from 22 November 2013, with three takes on the idea of a fuel-sipping SUV. As well as revealing the future design direction for Mitsubishi’s styling, and potential new niches for its growing SUV range, the crossovers demonstrate the latest iteration of Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid push. There’s a full-size SUV design, plus a coupe-styled brother and a new MPV.
